How My Furry Place Pet Sitter Started…
My medical history and struggle with my ovarian tumor made me rethink and slow down all my business activities.
At that time, we already had 9 dogs and 10 rescued cats of our own, the idea came up to open our house to help expats and travelers animal lovers minded people in need of someone looking after their pets in a no-cage environment.
We envisioned providing a home for others pets and treating them the same way our own pets will be treated providing comfortable shelter, a place where they can run and play freely and happy as they can be. A clean and green fresh environment. A place where they can invite some of their furry friends and be integrated with their packs and our own family and be treated like one.
It was then that My Furry Place Pet Sitter was born…
Who is Behind MyFurryPlace Pet Sitter?
We are both animal lovers and we have 9 adorable dogs and 10 rescued cats plus other farm animals. I occasionally do volunteer and charity work for animal welfare in Cambodia.
I love travelling, exploring new cultures and meeting new friends. I enjoyed getting my hand dirty by tweaking our garden. In my free time I enjoyed messing around with recycled items.
I love being with all our furries of different shapes and sizes. I am little bit “”shy “” with new people, but when given time and chance I’m very friendly in nature. My taste buds bring me to explore new food and I always want to try cuisine that are out of ordinary.
I am very solid and dedicated with what I do. Walking in the country side during weekend relaxes my mind. Oh! I forget I am a good sharp shooter but not real guns “but those playing guns in the amusement park that rewards you with funny stuff. A bucket or a ladle! I know it sounds silly!
I was 23 years that time and single. Now I am happily married and have 8 years old girl and 4 years old son.
Sometimes work is tough but I enjoyed working with furries. We only had 2 dogs and 2 cats when I start working with the family. Now we have more dogs and cats. Its more hectic, still I manage to turn around the house clean and manage to roll my sleeve with big smile. Its an attitude and the passion for what we do and what I am good at.
Normally I am peace full and calm. I work with very less supervision and my boss let me run the house when she is not around. Knowing she is very picky and thorough with what she see.
I guess I earned her trust.
I did not like it at the very beginning as its seems too much work and too busy. Later on I stop and work in the factory , until my sister encourage me again to go back to the house.
So far I love and enjoy all our boss dogs since I was caring and cooking for them since they are puppy. During lunch time I get a chance sometimes to play with them.
For me now, it’s hectic but source of endless fun awith all new and different shape and size coming in and out of the furry place house.
I could hardly speak English, but with my boss, who speak little Khmer, we get along pretty well. I am typical countryside boy , I do not like noisy place with traffic and bustling city, so the house with so much and only with barking dogs and green and lush garden that I am busy working on everyday is still best. That is why I enjoy my work.
My boss said I am the best so far she gets from this kind of job. I guess she has a high expectations on me! I must admit I am hardworking and I take my daily job very seriously.
I maintain our ground , make it clean as it can be.I truly enjoy it when I see that our gardens are beautiful and well maintained. When it looks good, it means I did my job well.
My wife and myself are originally from Kampong Cham. They keep my life pretty much occupied. I work as a night time guard and a part time gardener . This schedule brings me flexibility of my daily routine.
If my kids are at school I run my moto to earn extra little money for daily expenses. I still choose the life at the countryside if I have to decide on my own . But my wife like to live and work in the city so we stayed.
I work as full time night shift policeman. During day time I do a regular tuktuk transport service to some teachers at ISPP. Plus a regular tuktuk service for pick up and drop off for the customers at myfurryplace who needs transport service.
This work gives me extra income to support my 2 kids who is still going to school. I speak , write and read fluent English and very familiar with the streets in Phnom penh. While waiting sometimes for my regular customers, I love to browse my Iphone and read the newspaper.
Normally I am very punctual with my time and not to mention the price I charge to my customers is very competitive!
